Blank envelopes

I think we would all be lying if we said we opened and paid attention to every single email we receive. Particularly, those that are repetitive from specific senders with which you now somehow have a “subscription” and/or those that are simply not of interest. Often, these are brands that you no longer deem important. As marketers, it is crucial to avoid this from happening. You want your email to stand out as the “important” email to your audience.  This is not earned solely by existing. Your audience may love your brand but dislike your emails. Access to marketing technology, such as email marketing, is a significant benefit. Let’s dive into engaging your audience with your email marketing.

Email Marketing Design

Goldfish reading newsletter of attention span

First things first, your email must be appealing. Keep it short and simple. People do not like to have to read. According to Golden Steps ABA, “The average attention span of a human has decreased from 12 seconds to 8.25 seconds in the last two decades.” This makes it even more important to draw your audience’s attention. You have 8 seconds to grab your audience. Here are the elements you should focus on to achieve this:

  • Use Headers: Keep it organized.

  • Bullet Points: Make it easy to read.

  • Personalize: Use the recipient’s name and tailor messages based on preferences.

  • Call-to-action (CTA): Make it stand out, use buttons and bold colors that fit your aesthetic.

  • Responsive Design: Make sure emails look good on all devices.

  • Consistent branding: stay true to your brand’s colors, fonts, and logo.

Most of the time, you, as a marketer, must reach your audience. However, there are other times when the audience will search for YOU. In this case, how do you make sure your emails reach your audience? Personalization. Personalizing your emails will make your audience feel connected to you and important to your brand. Remember special occasions such as a birthday or anniversary of becoming a member, or any type of recognition that makes them feel special. Give coupons and special deals to email exclusive members.
